The expression jack-of-all-trades is often used by consultants and contractors to represent their competency. I think of it more like a tree, where some branches are stronger than others. Continuing the metaphor, some branches are, in turn, supported by yet stronger core branches, culminating in a trunk. The trunk is the foundation, upon which all branches rely. This is the passion, the drive, the ambition. It motivates growth and expression of all branches emanating from the core. New branches are inspired to grow, representing our willingness to explore new skills and techniques. This is my tree.
